Karolina Czarnecka

Born in Sokółka, in the northeast of Poland, Karolina Czarnecka forges a career at the crossroads of song, theatre and performance. Trained at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy, first in Białystok and then in Warsaw, she came to prominence in 2014 with her interpretation of Hera, Koka, Hasz, LSD, a Polish adaptation of a Tiger Lillies piece presented at the Przegląd Piosenki Aktorskiej in Wrocław. Her music blends electronics, alternative song, spoken word, rap and elements of Polish folklore, with a direct and often satirical writing style. In the same year she released the EP Córka, then joined the Warsaw theatre and cabaret scene within Pożar w Burdelu, as well as the female project Żelazne Waginy. In 2017, she participated in the group Gang Śródmieście, whose album Feminopolo appeared that same year. Her solo work then evolves with Solarium 2.0 in 2018, conceived with the group UV, followed by Cud in 2019, a record that highlights the folkorap dimension of her universe. Parallel to music, Karolina Czarnecka pursues acting in film and television, extending a stage practice where presence, text and performance occupy a central place.
