Judith Owen
Born in London into a Welsh family, Judith Owen is a singer‑songwriter and pianist whose work, developed since the 1990s, sits at the crossroads of pop, jazz and intimate songwriting. Based in the United States — for many years in Los Angeles and later in New Orleans — she builds her albums around piano and voice, with small‑ensemble arrangements that draw as much on club jazz as on Anglo‑American songwriting traditions. After several self‑released records, she refined this blend on Somebody’s Child (2016), then on Rediscovered (2018), a collection of reinterpretations of pop and rock songs, before more directly exploring the legacy of 1940s–1950s rhythm and blues and jazz vocalists on Come On & Get It (2022). On stage, Judith Owen favors compact lineups, typically trio or quartet, and performs in contemporary music venues as well as at jazz festivals across Europe and North America. Alongside her own projects, she regularly collaborates on musical creations with actor‑musician Harry Shearer, with whom she has maintained a long‑term partnership combining humor, songwriting and reimagining of standards.
