JLS

Formed in London around Oritsé Williams, JLS brought together Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, JB Gill and Williams in a boy-band format that mixes pop, contemporary R&B, light hip-hop and dance. Initially active as UFO from 2006, the quartet achieved wide recognition as finalists on The X Factor in 2008 before signing to Epic. JLS then released several high-profile singles in the UK and built a repertoire based on vocal harmonies, straightforward choruses and urban pop production tailored for both stage and radio. Their studio discography includes JLS (2009), Outta This World (2010), Jukebox (2011), Evolution (2012) and 2.0 (2021). Across these albums, JLS evolved their sound from a late‑2000s‑tinged R&B-pop to a more overt dance-pop songwriting approach, while retaining the collective vocal work that defines the group. After announcing a split in 2013 following a farewell tour and a compilation, JLS reunited in 2020. Since their return they have resumed arena tours in the UK and Ireland, performing a repertoire centered on their most recognizable hits and new songs released since the reunion.
