Jim Bob
Born in London as James Robert Morrison, Jim Bob first made his mark on the British alternative scene with Jamie Wednesday, and then as part of Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, a defining band of English indie rock around the turn of the 1990s, where his direct writing combined punk rock, caustic pop and social commentary. Alongside his group career, since the 2000s Jim Bob has pursued a broader solo path in varied musical colours — from acoustic songs to indie rock and melodic punk — while retaining a strong taste for narrative lyrics and observations of everyday life. His discography under the name Jim Bob includes, among others, Goodnight Jim Bob (2003), Angelstrike (2004), School (2006), Goffam (2009), What I Think About When I Think About You (2013), Jim Bob Sings Again (2016), followed by Pop Up Jim Bob (2020), Who Do We Hate Today (2021) and Thanks for Reaching Out (2023). Jim Bob also works as a writer, publishing novels, memoirs and collections of texts — an activity that extends the central role of writing in his musical career.
