Jason Donovan

Born in Malvern, a suburb of Melbourne, Jason Donovan first makes his mark on Australian television before developing, in the late 1980s, a musical career centered on a direct, melodic and danceable studio pop. Revealed by the role of Scott Robinson in Neighbours, he quickly moves to recording with the label PWL and the productions of Stock Aitken Waterman, which shape his early successes between light synth-pop, romantic ballads and radio-calibrated choruses. Jason Donovan released Ten Good Reasons in 1989, then Between the Lines in 1990, before All Around the World in 1993, at a time when his path gradually shifts from pop toward the stage. His duo with Kylie Minogue on Especially for You marks this initial phase durably, but Donovan also builds a solo repertoire with songs like Too Many Broken Hearts or Sealed with a Kiss. From the 1990s onwards, he redirects a large part of his activity toward musical theatre and theatre, with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Rocky Horror Show, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Sweeney Todd or Grease, mainly on British and Australian stages. Returning to recording later, he releases Let It Be Me in 2008, Soundtrack of the 80s in 2010 and Sign of Your Love in 2012, in a style of adult-pop and covers, while maintaining a regular presence between concerts, tours and stage productions.
