Hamilton Loomis
Born in Galveston, Texas in 1975, Hamilton Loomis develops at an early age a multi-faceted practice of singing, guitar, harmonica, piano, and percussion, in a family environment marked by music. His career sits within a Texas tradition where electric blues, blues rock, and soul blues intersect, with a playing style that blends groove, rock riffs, soulful singing, and formats inherited from rhythm and blues. As a teenager, Hamilton Loomis first sang in a family doo-wop group before going solo and frequenting the regional blues scene, where he notably crossed paths with Joe 'Guitar' Hughes, Johnny Copeland, Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown, Albert Collins, and especially Bo Diddley, who becomes a mentor and appears on several of his recordings. Hamilton Loomis released his first album, Hamilton, in 1994, followed by Just Gimme One Night in 1996, All Fired Up in 2000, Kickin' It in 2003, and Ain't Just Temporary in 2007. After a stint with Blind Pig Records, he returned to his Ham-Bone Records label and continued with Live in England in 2009, Give It Back in 2013, with the participation of Victor Wooten, then Basics in 2017. On stage, Hamilton Loomis regularly plays in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, in circuits where contemporary blues dialogues with rock and soul.
