Ghost-Note
Founded in Dallas in 2014, Ghost-Note formed around drummer Robert “Sput” Searight and percussionist Nate Werth, two musicians who came through Snarky Puppy, with the idea of a rhythm-centered collective. Ghost-Note has developed a sound at the crossroads of funk, jazz fusion and instrumental hip‑hop, driven by a strong presence of percussion, highly mobile bass lines, keyboards and collective work from the horns and winds. The project operates with a rotating lineup, featuring at various times musicians such as AJ Brown, MonoNeon, Dominique Xavier Taplin, Jonathan Mones, Sylvester Onyejiaka, Mike Jelani Brooks and Peter Knudsen. After Fortified in 2015, Ghost-Note continued this approach with Swagism in 2018 and Mustard n'Onions in 2024, further broadening the blend of groove, contemporary jazz, soul and textures drawn from urban music. On stage Ghost-Note appears in both club circuits and festivals, with notable shows in North America and Europe, particularly at jazz-linked events that welcome hybrid forms and live energy.
