Formed in Saarbrücken, Germany, the rap duo Genetikk brings together rapper Karuzo and producer Sikk, active on the German‑language hip‑hop scene since the late 2000s. Genetikk develops a visual universe characterized by masks and pop‑culture‑inspired imagery that accompanies German lyrics that are often dark, vivid and technically skilled. Musically, Genetikk relies on productions heavily influenced by 1990s American rap, frequently using soul or funk samples, cinematic atmospheres and a taste for boom‑bap tempos, sometimes blended with more modern sounds. After early self‑released projects, the group reached wider recognition with the album Foetus (2010), followed by Voodoozirkus (2012) and D.N.A. (2013), then Achter Tag (2015), Fukk Genetikk (2016) and Y.A.L.A (2018). In the studio as on stage, Genetikk operates mainly around the Karuzo–Sikk core, while occasionally collaborating with other German‑language rappers and joining the network of independent rap labels in Germany.
