for KING & COUNTRY
Behind for KING & COUNTRY are brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, born in Sydney and relocated with their family to the Nashville area in childhood. Since 2007 they have developed an Australian‑American duo that sits at the crossroads of Christian pop, soft rock, alternative rock and songwriting sometimes close to contemporary country. After touring with their sister Rebecca St. James and performing under the names Joel & Luke and then Austoville, they launched for KING & COUNTRY with a first EP in 2011, followed by the album Crave in 2012. The project then gained visibility on the American contemporary Christian music circuit, notably through the Winter Jam tours and a stage format where the brothers' vocals sit alongside expansive pop‑rock production. Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong. was released in 2014, followed by Burn the Ships in 2018, A Drummer Boy Christmas in 2020 and What Are We Waiting For? in 2022. Over the years, for KING & COUNTRY has also collaborated with Lecrae, Dolly Parton, Tori Kelly, NEEDTOBREATHE and Jordin Sparks. Their music blends melodic choruses, ballads, orchestral pop and light rock, with lyrics focused on faith, doubt and family ties.
