Eric Martin

American singer raised between Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay, Eric Martin developed from the late 1970s a repertoire situated between melodic hard rock, pop rock and white soul, with a clear, flexible voice that remains central to his projects. After performing on the California local scene, he first led 415, later renamed the Eric Martin Band, which released Sucker for a Pretty Face in 1983. Eric Martin then launched a solo career with Eric Martin in 1985 and I’m Only Fooling Myself in 1987, before joining Mr. Big in 1988 alongside Billy Sheehan, Paul Gilbert and Pat Torpey. Within that group, Eric Martin fitted into a technical but very melodic hard rock, driven by pop choruses and ballads such as 'To Be with You'. At the same time, he continued his personal albums with Somewhere in the Middle (1998), I’m Goin’ Sane (2002) and Destroy All Monsters (2004), and from 2008 also turned to the Japanese market with the Mr. Vocalist series. His trajectory also includes the Tak Matsumoto Group — TMG I in 2004 and TMG II in 2024 — as well as appearances on melodic rock and metal projects such as Avantasia.
