Emerson Drive

Formed in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Emerson Drive was first called 12 Gauge before relocating to Nashville in the late 1990s and adopting its final name. The Canadian group develops a contemporary country sound marked by country-pop choruses, clean guitars, a strong rhythm section, and, in its early years, a notable emphasis on the fiddle. Centered around lead singer Brad Mates, Emerson Drive established itself in the early 2000s on the North American country scene with the album Emerson Drive in 2002, then What If? in 2004, before continuing with Countrified in 2006, Believe in 2009, Roll in 2012 and Tilt-a-Whirl in 2015. Its path included several lineup changes, but the core consisting of Brad Mates, Danick Dupelle, Mike Melancon and Dale Wallace remained intact over time. Emerson Drive toured Canada and the United States, played Nashville country circuits, participated in numerous festivals and opened shows for artists such as Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley or Brooks & Dunn. Between radio country, ballads and sharper tracks, Emerson Drive has kept a clear line, anchored in country tradition while opening it to modern production. The band announced a farewell tour in 2024, bringing nearly thirty years of activity to a close.
