Dove Cameron

Born on Bainbridge Island in the state of Washington and later trained in Los Angeles, Dove Cameron first gained recognition on screen before establishing a distinct musical path blending pop, dark pop and goth-pop. Her voice appeared from the mid-2010s on the soundtracks of Liv and Maddie and the Descendants franchise, in which she also played one of the leading roles. In 2015 and 2016 she formed the duo The Girl and the Dreamcatcher with Ryan McCartan; their EP Negatives was released in 2016. From 2019 she refocused on solo releases with the singles Bloodshot, Waste and So Good. Her repertoire then took a more adult turn, combining pop hooks, dark production and themes of identity, desire and power dynamics. In 2022 the single Boyfriend marked a turning point in this evolution, followed notably by Breakfast, Bad Idea and Girl Like Me. Dove Cameron continued this trajectory through several collaborations — including with Khalid, Diplo and Marshmello — before consolidating the aesthetic on the EP Alchemical: Volume 1, released in 2023. Between mainstream pop culture, musical television and the alternative pop scene, she has thus built a short but coherent discography alongside her acting career.
