Garou
Garou, born Pierre Garand in Sherbrooke, is a Québécois singer and musician known for his powerful, raspy and deeply expressive voice. He began his career in the 1990s and rose to prominence with the role of Quasimodo in Luc Plamondon and Richard Cocciante’s musical Notre‑Dame de Paris, a worldwide success that brought him to public attention. His first solo album, Seul (2000), was a huge hit and became one of the decade’s best‑selling francophone records. Across albums such as Reviens, Piece of My Soul and Soul City, Garou explores a repertoire mixing chanson, pop, soul and blues, always delivered with an intensely felt performance. Charismatic and popular, he has collaborated with artists like Céline Dion, Michel Sardou and Roch Voisine while building an international career. On stage his generosity and contagious energy make him a true showman. Today Garou is regarded as one of the great francophone voices, perched between romanticism and rock.
