DJ Patife
Born in São Paulo as Wagner Ribeiro de Souza, DJ Patife emerged in the Brazilian drum and bass scene from the 1990s, following a trajectory that connected local clubs to international circuits. His first documented set took place at the Arena Music Hall in São Paulo, before he gained visibility alongside other figures of Brazilian drum and bass such as Marky and Drumagick. DJ Patife's music falls within a smooth, highly rhythmic drum and bass style, often threaded with references to Brazilian music, which led him to move between club culture, remixes and collaborations. In 2000, DJ Patife released the album Sounds of Drum’n’bass and that same year contributed to projects linked to Otto, Fernanda Porto and the Brazil EP compilation on V Recordings. The following year, DJ Patife was on the bill at Rock in Rio and also performed outside Brazil, notably in the United Kingdom, the United States and Amsterdam. Since then, DJ Patife has remained associated with the generation that gave international visibility to drum and bass produced in Brazil.
