Deniz Tekin

Born in Izmir in 1997 and having lived in Mardin then Gaziantep before settling in Istanbul, Deniz Tekin has built a career that balances personal songwriting, acoustic formats and home production under the name Daphead. Initially trained on piano and flute, she played in local bands during her teens, began performing in small cafés at 16 and simultaneously released covers and original songs online, quickly expanding her audience in Turkey. Her music sits between Turkish alternative pop, indie folk and intimate singer‑songwriter styles, favoring restrained textures, melancholic melodies and — depending on the project — more electronic or lo‑fi arrangements. Deniz Tekin released her debut album Kozakuluçka in 2017, followed by the EPs Kuyu (2022) and Mana (2023), the latter developed with Geeva Flava and Dilan Balkay, before the album Yüzyıllardır Aynı Dert in 2023. Over the years she has appeared on stages in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Antalya, collaborated notably with Can Ozan and Cihan Mürtezaoğlu, and has also played bass occasionally, notably with Yaşlı Amca in 2023.
