Fat Freddy's Drop
Fat Freddy’s Drop is a reggae-dub band from New Zealand. The group formed in 1999 in Wellington and brings together Fitchie (Chris Faiumu), Joe Dukie (Dallas Tamaira), Dobie Blaze (Iain Gordon) and Jetlag Johnson (Tehimana Kerr). From the start they played concerts across Oceania and released an early live recording, "Live at the Matterhorn" (2001). Their first studio album, "Based On a True Story", appeared in 2005 and became a major hit, reaching the top of the sales charts in New Zealand. Recognised by both the public and the press, Fat Freddy’s Drop went on to perform at prestigious European festivals such as Glastonbury and SONAR in Barcelona. Their second album, "Dr Boondigga & The Big BW", quickly went platinum and picked up several awards at the New Zealand Music Awards. After an extensive run of concerts and a live release in 2010, the band returned in 2013 with the studio album "Blackbird" and toured again, including a show at the Zénith in Paris and performances at the Garorock festival.
