Oddział Zamknięty

Formed in Warsaw in 1979, Oddział Zamknięty enters the history of Polish rock with a sound that blends rock, pop-rock and hard rock, from its early days carried by direct guitars, catchy choruses and a marked stage energy. The band emerges in the early 1980s around Wojciech Łuczaj-Pogorzelski, who remained a central member through the many lineup changes, and Krzysztof Jaryczewski, the first singer of the founder period. This initial phase fixes a part of Oddział Zamknięty's most enduring repertoire, notably on the 1983 album Oddział Zamknięty and then Reda by Night in 1984. After several personnel reshuffles in the 1980s, the band breaks off then resumes its activity in the early 1990s, with new singers and a direction that keeps the rock base while incorporating more melodic ballads, as on Terapia in 1993, Bezsenność in 1995, Parszywa 13 in 1997 and Co na to ludzie in 2001. Oddział Zamknięty continued to circulate on Polish stages across different generations of musicians, with a trajectory marked as much by reformations as by the permanence of its sonic identity. The recent line-up was built around Łuczaj-Pogorzelski, notably with Paweł Oziabło, Maciej Kudła and, again, Grzegorz Stępień.
