Sztywny Pal Azji

Trained in Chrzanów, in southern Poland, Sztywny Pal Azji appeared in 1986 around Leszek Nowak and Jarosław Kisiński, in a rock register nourished by the new wave, direct guitars and melodies that keep a post-punk color without locking themselves in. The band drew attention from its early days at the Jarocin festival, then established itself in the Polish rock landscape of the late 1980s with Europa i Azja in 1987 and Szukam nowego siebie in 1989, where a sound is drawn that is at once taut, lyrical and accessible. Over the 1990s, Sztywny Pal Azji continued with Emocje in 1992 and Dewiacje na wakacje in 1993, while undergoing several lineup changes, a recurring feature of its history. After Spotkanie z... in 1996, Leszek Nowak temporarily left the group and Jarosław Kisiński took the lead before Nowak's return, who accompanied the release of Szpal in 2001. Reactivated from 2007, Sztywny Pal Azji then released Miłość jak dynamit in 2008, Fiss Pink in 2012, Szara in 2017 and Jestem tu po to in 2022. Between stage continuity, returns of historic members and new configurations, Sztywny Pal Azji remains devoted to a concise, melodic rock writing anchored in the Polish 1980s tradition.
