Chuck Ragan
Born in Houston, Texas in 1974, Chuck Ragan first made his mark in the mid‑1990s as co‑singer and guitarist of the punk rock band Hot Water Music, based in Gainesville, Florida, before embarking on a more acoustic solo path from 2005. Ragan's music blends folk punk, Americana, indie rock and country accents, rooted in narrative songwriting and attentive to themes of the road, work and community bonds. His first solo studio album, Feast or Famine, was released in 2007, followed by Gold Country in 2009 and Covering Ground in 2011, extending a turn toward a more stripped‑down folk‑rock register. Ragan then released Till Midnight in 2014, collaborating with the band The Camaraderie, and in 2016 he composed the soundtrack for the video game The Flame in the Flood, reinforcing a more cinematic strand of his writing. Alongside his solo shows and ongoing work with Hot Water Music, he launched The Revival Tour, a series of collaborative tours bringing various singer‑songwriters from the punk and folk scenes together on stage, which has embedded him within a transatlantic network of independent musicians.
