Waves Crashing

Based in Olympia, Washington, Waves Crashing develops a palette that crosses shoegaze, dream pop, indie rock, and melodic post-punk, with guitar textures, clear vocal lines, and a marked taste for textures inherited from the 1980s and 1990s. The project took shape in the early 2020s and began to make a mark on the Pacific Northwest's alternative scene with a series of regular releases, starting with a debut EP in 2021. Waves Crashing has since played numerous shows in its regional circuit and shared the bill with bands from indie, shoegaze, and noise rock scenes such as Bully, Wavves, Ringo Deathstarr, Cloakroom, Sun Atoms, or The Veldt, while appearing at several festivals and local events. Their discography expanded with the EP The Viewing in 2023, then Ancora, before their first album, Effection, released in 2025, which extends this dense and airy writing style at once. In 2026, Waves Crashing released In The Blur, the second studio album which confirms the band's evolution toward a more expansive format, still centered on melodic compositions, a play of contrasts between tension and softness, and an approachable shoegaze approach without detaching from its roots.
