Dorothée
Active both as a television presenter and a singer, Dorothée—born Frédérique Hoschedé in 1953 in Paris—developed in the late 1970s a musical career closely tied to the youth programmes she hosted on Antenne 2 and later TF1. Performing simple, melodic francophone pop aimed at children and preteens, she recorded a series of albums produced by AB, including «Dorothée au pays des chansons» (1980), «Hou ! la menteuse» (1983) and «Docteur» (1988), and many theme songs for cartoons and series broadcast on Récré A2 and Club Dorothée. Her repertoire ranged from modernized nursery rhymes and upbeat pop to quieter ballads, with songs often written by Jean‑François Porry and arrangements by Gérard Salesses. Alongside studio recordings, Dorothée staged numerous family shows in Parisian venues and toured francophone countries in the early 1990s before withdrawing from the media spotlight at the end of the decade. She returned occasionally with a self‑titled album in 2010 and a handful of concerts, while remaining associated with the generations who discovered music on television through her.
