Daito Manabe

Born in Tokyo in 1976, Daito Manabe has since the early 2000s developed work at the crossroads of electronic music, programming, imagery, and performance. Trained in mathematics, he has established himself on the Japanese scene of digital arts with projects that question the relationship between body, sound, light, and interactive systems. Daito Manabe composes music that travels between ambient, experimental electronic, minimal rhythms, and digital textures, often conceived in dialogue with visual or stage devices. His career unfolds as much in clubs and festivals dedicated to advanced music as in museums, installations, and research projects. Founder of Rhizomatiks and involved in several technological creation structures, Daito Manabe leads a collective practice while developing a personal practice as a composer and audiovisual artist. Over the years, he has collaborated with musicians such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Björk, or Squarepusher, but also with choreographers, designers and researchers, in a démarche that links composition, code, and spatial arrangement.
