Wizardthrone

Born in the United Kingdom around guitarist Michael Barber, Wizardthrone takes the form of a five‑piece extreme metal band also bringing together Matthew Bell, Keiran Allen, Christopher Bowes and Isak Olsson, with backgrounds notably linked to Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Akercocke and Twilight Force. The project sits at a crossroad between symphonic black metal, power metal and melodic death metal, with a cosmic fantasy and science-fiction aesthetic carried by dense arrangements, omnipresent keyboards, and a marked taste for fast, dense constructions. Wizardthrone publicly emerged in 2021 with the album Hypercube Necrodimensions, released the same year, which lays the foundations of its universe between interdimensional narratives, spectacular orchestration, and deliberately lush writing. Initially conceived as a studio project, Wizardthrone later evolved to the stage, with Michael Barber on vocals and guitar, in a setup that preserves the album's symphonic scope while grounding it in a more direct approach. Wizardthrone thus occupies a distinctive space in the contemporary British metal scene, at the junction of extreme metal, the symphonic, and a highly developed narrative imagination.
