Spotlight Kid

Born in Nottingham in 2006 around musician Chris Davis, former member of Six by Seven, Spotlight Kid fits into a lineage where shoegaze, alternative rock and neo-psychedelia cross paths in melodic songs carried by dense guitars and misty atmospheres. Initially conceived as a studio project, the band takes shape with the arrival of Katty Heath on vocals, who had also passed through Bent, then an expanded lineup that establishes on stage a more assertive band dynamic. Spotlight Kid releases Departure in 2006, followed by the Crystal Dreams EP in 2009, then the single April/All Is Real in 2010. With Disaster Tourist in 2011, recorded in a more direct and collective spirit, Spotlight Kid evolves its sound toward a clearer balance between rock tension, guitar textures and ethereal vocals. The band continues in this direction with Ten Thousand Hours in 2014, developing a more structured writing while staying rooted in shoegaze. Active on the British independent scene, Spotlight Kid has played at various festivals and venues in the UK, with a repertoire where psychedelic textures remain linked to a readable pop form.
