Resplandor

Founded in Lima in the mid-2000s around Antonio Zelada, Resplandor evolves between shoegaze, dream pop, post-punk and post-rock, with a sound built from layers of guitars, airy vocals and dense textures that favor melodic tension as much as atmosphere. The project was born in Peru before developing between South America and Europe, with a base later established in the Netherlands, which explains Resplandor’s regular presence on Dutch, German, British and Latin American stages. After the early albums Pleamar (2008), Solar (2010) and La Distancia (2016), Resplandor continues this expansive and misty aesthetic on Tristeza (2022), a record produced by Robin Guthrie, while Simon Scott’s work appears in mastering on recent releases. In concert, Resplandor plays in intense, continuous formats, more oriented toward immersion than showy effect. The band has shared the bill with The Cure several times, notably during the Shows of a Lost World tour in 2023, and has performed at festivals such as Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Grauzone and SXSW. Resplandor has also crossed paths with groups tied to the shoegaze and noise pop scenes such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, Slowdive or LSD and the Search for God, in a trajectory built over time between clubs, international tours and specialized festivals.
