Aälma Dili

Formed in 2011 in the suburbs of Paris, Aälma Dili assembles a repertoire the band describes as “turbo gypsy western,” between Balkan music, Mediterranean traditions and the energy of acoustic rock. In its quartet line‑up led by Emilio Castiello on vocals, mandolin and violin, alongside Clément Oury, Gabriel Seyer and Lautaro Marulanda, Aälma Dili centers on a dense string sound where violins, guitar and double bass intertwine, with fast rhythms and melodies that evoke Serbia, Greece or Italy as well as a popular western imagery. The group has evolved its personnel over time while maintaining a regular presence on stages in France and across Europe. Aälma Dili’s discography includes Familia (2013), Fush Fush (2015), Pour une Poignée de Dinars (2017) and Fratoï (2023). Along the way the band has also shared projects and collaborations with La Caravane Passe, Soviet Suprem, Johnny Montreuil and Barbara Pravi, notably in a programme devoted to songs associated with Dalida.
