Annie Taylor
Born in Switzerland after its members met in a mountain bar coming back from a snowboarding session, Annie Taylor develops taut, direct alternative rock where grunge, psychedelia, shoegaze and indie rock intersect. The project was first built on stage, with a sound centered on saturated guitars, nervous rhythms and shifts in intensity that alternate abrasive surges with more restrained passages. Over the years Annie Taylor has taken this repertoire far beyond the Swiss scene, performing at SXSW and the Levitation Festival in Austin, The Great Escape in Brighton and the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. This trajectory accompanies songwriting that has grown more precise, balancing grunge-like tension, repetitive motifs close to psychedelic rock and drier, more introspective melodies. Annie Taylor thus operates within a contemporary rock aesthetic that favors immediate impact without giving up nuance, with songs capable of moving from a frontal rush to a calmer withdrawal within the same set.
