Tommy Barlow

Raised in Cambridge in a very musical family, Tommy Barlow was formed through exposure to British traditional folk, with references like Flook and Michael McGoldrick, before moving to London to study electronic music at the Guildhall. For Tommy Barlow, this dual background translates into tracks where field recordings, guitar, strings, samples, vocals and, at times, bagpipes intersect, in a writing that blends folk, electronic and experimental pop without settling into a single register. His approach combines acoustic textures and sound montage with a marked attention to atmosphere and production details, producing work that can evoke both intimate forms and more repetitive constructions. In 2024 Tommy Barlow released the self-produced mixtape Mustard Seeds, which offers a clear glimpse into his creative process and accompanies his gradual establishment on the London scene. He now performs regularly at venues such as The George Tavern, Shacklewell Arms and Spanners, and appears alongside bands like RIP Magic, Ebbb and Quade, situating his trajectory within an independent network where songwriting, experimentation and alternative music converge.
