Change
Formed in Bologna in 1979 around Jacques Fred Petrus, Mauro Malavasi and Davide Romani, Change emerged as an Italo‑American studio project in which instrumentals were conceived in Italy and then completed with vocals recorded in the United States. Initially the group operated in an elegant post‑disco vein informed by Euro‑disco, funk and R&B, with a smooth, melodic sound firmly geared toward the dance floor. The debut album The Glow of Love (1980) established this identity with contributions from Luther Vandross; Change followed with Miracles (1981) before shifting toward a more R&B‑centered approach on Sharing Your Love (1982). The collective—working with rotating singers and musicians rather than a fixed lineup—went on to release This Is Your Time (1983), Change of Heart (1984), marked by the input of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and Turn on Your Radio (1985). Other voices associated with Change include Diva Gray, James Robinson and Deborah Cooper. After the project ceased in the late 1980s, Change resurfaced in various forms, notably with Change Your Mind (2010) and a relaunch led by Romani and Malavasi with Love 4 Love (2018) and Embrace (2025).
