Bclip

From Soledad in the Atlántico department of Colombia, Bclip develops a practice as a producer, DJ and live performer nourished by picó culture — the powerful popular soundsystems of the Caribbean coast — as well as by Colombia’s multigenre clubs. Bclip groups this aesthetic under the name LA GRA$A, a flexible framework that allows him to combine reggaetón, salsa, Caribbean folklore, hard house, IDM and harsher textures that sometimes borrow from black metal. Rather than settling into a single register, Bclip works with the frictions between dance rhythms, local traditions and more experimental electronic forms, producing sets and tracks that move forward through contrasts, ruptures and shifts in density. His trajectory sits within a Latin American scene attentive to the flows between club music, popular heritage and regional countercultures. Through this hybrid language, Bclip offers a highly personal reading of Colombian urban and electronic musics, where the energy of neighbourhood parties dialogues with more unstable structures and deliberately raw atmospheres.
