Lise Cabaret

Raised in the working-class neighborhoods of Paris’s 18th arrondissement, Lise Cabaret has developed a French chanson style strongly informed by rock culture, with the guitar at its core. A songwriter, composer, performer and multi-instrumentalist, she builds a repertoire that is both direct and sensitive, driven by lyrics rooted in everyday life, a frontal vocal approach and an aesthetic that blends rock energy, chanson melodies and a taste for understated stage presentation. Since the 2010s she has been part of the francophone independent scene, with several showcases and a prize at the Clermont Carrefour Chanson in 2019; her discography includes three studio albums. She also explores her work in a duo with Sanseverino, in a multipart program that mixes solo songs, manouche swing and pieces co-written by the two. Between lyric-driven chanson, French rock and an acoustic approach, Lise Cabaret favors concise storytelling attentive to ordinary situations and social tensions, delivered with a highly embodied performance.
