Alexkid

Born in France in 1975 under the name Alexis Mauri, Alexkid first develops a relationship with music through guitar and funk before turning to electronic music at the end of the 1990s. His work sits within a broad house spectrum, where deep house, minimal house, dub and broken beat cross paths, with a writing style that is often flexible, focused on groove, textures and the movement between club formats and more atmospheric tracks. Alexkid emerged in the early 2000s with the album Bienvenida in 2001, followed by Mint in 2003 and Caracol in 2006, notably in the environment of the label F Communications, an important touchstone of the French electronic scene of that period. Alongside his solo productions, he also participates in other projects such as Dubphonic and VeoVeo, extending his interest in more collective and hybrid forms. Over the years, Alexkid also releases on several labels linked to European house and techno scenes, while maintaining regular DJ activity. His career shows an evolution from melodic and organic house in the early days to more pared-back, sometimes drier and hypnotic forms, with no sharp rupture with what runs through his entire discography, from Dubs And Echo Tales in 2009 to his dancefloor-oriented releases in the following years.
