Bye Parula
Born in Montreal in the early 2020s, Bye Parula took shape during the lockdown around Loïc Calatayud‑Sola, Sebastián Riquelme and Sergio D’Isanto. The trio builds a repertoire at the intersection of indie rock, folk and art‑pop, marked by a strong melodic sense, detailed arrangements and rhythms that reveal touches of funk and R&B. Bye Parula belongs to a Montreal scene where pop experimentation and collaborative practices remain central, while keeping a compact format that highlights the interplay between bass, guitar, drums and voice. After an initial emergence amid the silence of the Covid years, the band shifted its songwriting toward a broader, more mobile pop, nourished as much by orchestrated songcraft as by North American indie. In 2026 the group releases Something Out of Nothing, a second album that continues this trajectory with flexible melodic writing, sometimes hushed atmospheres and a particular attention to contrasts between folk intimacy and a more urban pulse.
