Sugar Sugar

Formed in France in 2019, Sugar Sugar brings together Axel Rigaud and Julien Loutelier — the latter also a member of Cabaret contemporain — in an electronic music duo where improvisation is central. Sugar Sugar develops a minimalist, experimental aesthetic at the intersection of dance music, live performance and a rhythmic approach that favors the human pulse over a strictly metronomic unfolding. The project has been shaped on stage in a variety of contexts, from contemporary music venues such as Le Safran or La Cartonnerie to festivals like the Biennale NEMO at Centquatre-Paris and Les Nuits Soniques, and in club format at the Cabaret Sauvage. In concert, Sugar Sugar pairs this sonic exploration with an immersive visual and lighting environment designed with Lénaïc Pujol of Collectif Scale, extending the duo’s physical dimension. On the discography side, Sugar Sugar released the album Shed Session in 2021 on Jazzus Records, followed by the single If Playing and the EP Improvised Recipes in 2024 in self-production.
