Marbled Eye

Formed in Oakland, California, Marbled Eye works in a tense, physical post‑punk vein where dry guitars, pronounced bass lines and a constant focus on rhythm shape direct tracks often marked by a sense of dislocation and instability. Marbled Eye emerged in the mid‑2010s with a first EP in 2016, followed by EP 2 in 2017, before releasing their debut album Leisure in 2018. Across these records the band refines concise songwriting rooted in the American indie scene, favouring a balance between cold melody, repetitive tension and a nervous pulse. The track “Dirty Water,” recorded and mixed by Andrew Oswald for the Dirty Water series, continues this trajectory by condensing work that began earlier and was later reworked amid several members’ relocations and pandemic‑related reassessments. Marbled Eye thus develops an unshowy post‑punk focused on the internal movement of its songs and a tight collective dynamic.
