Oog Bogo

Based in Los Angeles, California, Oog Bogo crafts an indie rock that draws as much from psychedelia as from punk and garage, with structures that often veer toward art rock. Led by guitarist and singer Kevin Boog, the project took shape in the late 2010s and came into sharper focus in the early 2020s with a series of EPs that established Oog Bogo’s singular aesthetic, combining angular melodies, tempo shifts, and more contemplative passages. The first full-length album, Plastic, released in 2023, distills these facets into a set of tracks that alternate between raw energy, slower stretches, and finely wrought vocal arrangements. On stage, Oog Bogo functions with a shapeshifting lineup, as Kevin Boog surrounds himself with musicians from the local independent scene, which influences the dynamics and variations in the repertoire. Oog Bogo’s compositions strike a balance between rock immediacy, experimental touches, and a knack for concise songs, allowing the group to move as easily across club stages as in contexts oriented toward underground and exploratory music.
