Formed in the United States by Douglas Robinson and Sal Mignano, both previously in The Sleeping, with Josh Eppard, cofounder of Coheed and Cambria, Held. sits within a post-hardcore field nourished by alternative rock and broader melodic textures. The trio brings together musicians who have been active since the 2000s on the American rock scene, and this experience is reflected in writing that is direct and taut, alternating rhythmic intensity, abrasive vocals, and more open passages. Held. develops a dark and tense aesthetic, centered on dense guitars, changing dynamics, and a vocal approach that plays on the friction between urgency and restraint. The project publicly emerged in the mid-2020s with the track ’Heavengazer’, followed by the 2026 album GREY, which lays the foundations of its sonic identity.
