Marion Raw

Raised between Mexico, the United States and Europe, Marion Raw embeds themes of movement and identity in her music through intimate songwriting that sits between alternative folk, indie rock and lo‑fi pop. Based in Mexico City after a childhood spent in hotels and airports, she trained first as a visual artist before turning to music and founding the band Love la Femme within Mexico’s independent scene. Her work, informed by themes of family, gender constructs, mental health and the feeling of exile, is expressed in direct, often acoustic songwriting where the voice remains front and center. Awarded a grant and support from FONCA for the multidisciplinary project “Mummy Dearest” in 2009, Marion Raw then consolidated her solo trajectory, released recordings in both English and Spanish, and collaborated with various musicians from the Latin American and international indie scenes. Across the albums and EPs she has released since the late 2010s, Marion Raw pursues an approach that crosses stripped‑down ballads, more electric textures and pop culture references, while maintaining a close connection to Mexico City’s alternative scene and DIY networks.
