Gondhawa
Rooted in Angers’ rock scene in France, Gondhawa is a power trio that blends psychedelia, garage energy and melodic motifs drawn from various Asian, Middle Eastern and European traditions. Gondhawa’s music is built on a guitar–bass–drums format marked by the legacy of 1970s rock, yet it subverts that framework with shifting rhythms, prominent bass lines and the use of non‑Western modes. The band frames its work around a fictional world, Gondhawa, and an invented language, gondhawii, whose sounds mix influences from several cultural areas and reinforce the hybrid nature of their pieces. Throughout the 2020s, Gondhawa has multiplied gigs on the independent rock circuit and at festivals focused on psych and experimental music, giving their compositions a largely live‑oriented dimension. This search for a cosmic, organic sound links Gondhawa to contemporary psych‑rock outfits such as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard or Flamingods, while asserting a distinct identity within the new French psychedelic wave.
