Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives

Formed in the early 2000s in Nashville, Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives brings together singer‑guitarist Marty Stuart with musicians Kenny Vaughan, Harry Stinson and Chris Scruggs. A Mississippi native who played with Lester Flatt and later Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart has crafted with the Fabulous Superlatives a sound rooted in traditional country, blending honky‑tonk, bluegrass, rockabilly and gospel, with a pronounced taste for vocal harmonies and western atmospheres. Released under the name Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives are the gospel album "Soul's Chapel" (2005), "Way Out West" (2017), inspired by the landscapes of the American Southwest, and "Altitude" (2023), which continues the exploration between country, ballads and psychedelic hues. In studio and on stage, Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives favor a collective approach in which each musician sings and takes solos, shaping a sonic identity close to the ensembles of Nashville's Golden Age. The band regularly appears on the Grand Ole Opry stage and provided the musical backbone for the television program "The Marty Stuart Show", reinforcing its place in the contemporary country and americana scene.
