SP Just Frost

Formed in Copenhagen, SP Just Frost brings together a singer, a pianist and a drummer around a repertoire largely inspired by soul, blues and New Orleans–style rhythm and blues. The trio relies on playing that is very focused on vocals and piano, with a pronounced rhythmic drive that at times brings the group closer to funk and gospel, while remaining committed to a direct, accessible song format. Between original compositions and reinterpretations of Afro‑American music from the 1960s and 1970s, SP Just Frost develops its music primarily on stage — in intimate clubs as well as on platforms oriented toward jazz and improvised music — where the live aspect is central to the project’s identity. The band’s recordings extend this approach, favoring an organic, minimally produced aesthetic that reveals the interaction between the three musicians and highlights the balance between rhythmic energy, prominent piano lines and a vocal approach close to both spoken soul and classical singing.
