deca joins

Formed in Taiwan in 2013, initially under the names FUBAR and then Gray Dwarf Star before adopting the name deca joins in 2017, the group brings together Zheng Jingru on vocals and guitar, Yang Shanghua on guitar, Xie Junyan on bass, Lu Haozhao on drums and Du Zhexin on percussion. Hailing from Taipei's indie scene and linked to a student milieu around the National Taipei University of the Arts, deca joins develops an alternative rock sung in Mandarin, interwoven with dream pop textures, often restrained tempos and melodically melancholic contours. The band released its first EP Lu Qiang in 2014, then refined its identity with the album Bathroom in 2017, where tracks such as Hai Lang, Wu Du and Yejian Dubai already appear in a register mixing soft guitars, ample bass and almost spoken vocals. deca joins continues with the EP Go Slow in 2018, then the album Niao Niao Niao in 2020, before releasing the EP An Liu in 2023. Between tours in Taiwan and mainland China, festivals and venues dedicated to independent music, deca joins has evolved its sound toward a broader, more expansive palette, while not abandoning a nocturnal, slow and introspective aesthetic.
