Blair Dunlop
Born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, Blair Dunlop belongs to an English folk tradition that blends singer‑songwriter craft, acoustic ballads, mellow folk‑rock and light country inflections. The son of Ashley Hutchings and Judy Dunlop, he grew up immersed in the British folk scene. He first appeared as a child actor — notably in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) — before devoting himself to music. In the early 2010s he took over The Albion Band, the group founded by his father, contributing to Fighting Room (2011), The Vice of the People (2012) and Orion’s Belt (2012), then disbanded that lineup in 2013 to pursue a solo career. After several EPs, including a 2013 collaboration with Larkin Poe, he developed a solo discography with House of Jacks (2014), Gilded (2016), Notes From An Island (2018) and Out Of The Rain (2024), produced by Jim Moray. His precise guitar playing, restrained vocals and narrative songwriting place him within contemporary British folk circles.
