Ash Lauryn

Based between Detroit and Atlanta, Ash Lauryn has developed a house approach deeply rooted in the legacy of Black dance music while engaging with contemporary deep house and soulful house scenes. Initially shaped by Detroit’s club culture, she began to professionalize in Atlanta, encouraged notably by Kai Alcé and Vicki Powell, and built her DJ identity around dancefloor‑oriented sets that are often introspective, blending house classics, African‑American sonorities and contemporary productions. Alongside her DJ work, she launched the platform Underground & Black — starting as a blog and later expanded into a wider project including an annual party around the Movement Festival in Detroit, a monthly show on NTS Radio and a namesake podcast — creating a space to reflect on the history and role of Black artists in electronic music. On stage, Ash Lauryn performs regularly across the United States and Europe, with notable appearances at venues such as Nowadays in New York, Panorama Bar in Berlin and Printworks in London, as well as festivals like Afropunk, Dimensions and Flow Festival Helsinki. She also develops a writing practice, with pieces published in The Face, Mixmag and Resident Advisor, and in 2021 released her first solo EP, 'Truth', co‑produced with Stefan Ringer, featuring warm, minimal house focused on groove and personal storytelling.
