Saint Abdullah
Formed by Iranian‑Canadian brothers Mohammad and Mehdi Mehrabani‑Yeganeh, Saint Abdullah develops from New York an experimental electronic practice shaped by a trajectory between Tehran, Vancouver and North America. The project is rooted in a blend of Iranian ritual music, abstract dub, noise, ambient and sound collage, where family archives, field‑recorded voices, media excerpts and improvised interventions intersect. With the albums Stars Have Eyes (2017) and The Sounds of Evil (2018), the duo refined an approach that addresses both diasporic experience and Western representations of Iran, playing on the tension between recognizable melodic motifs and more abrasive textures. In both live performance and studio work, Saint Abdullah moves between concert formats, electronic live sets and installations, maintaining regular dialogue with the experimental scenes of New York and Europe. Their successive releases suggest an evolution by layers rather than abrupt breaks: each project rearranges materials, jazz influences, religious references and fragments of popular culture to construct a dense, mobile sonic language.
