Aho Ssan
Under the name Aho Ssan, Niamké Désiré develops experimental electronic music from France that blends dark ambient, drone, noise and spatialized composition. After studying graphic design and film, Aho Ssan turned to sound creation and has crafted a dense universe marked by abrasive textures, deep low-frequency masses and a meticulous approach to tension. His first solo album, Simulacrum, was released in 2020 on the Subtext label, followed in 2021 by Simulacrum Remixed. That same year Aho Ssan contributed to Weavings, a collective composition initiated by Nicolas Jaar and later presented at the Unsound festival. A commission from the Groupe de recherches musicales resulted in The Falling Man, a multichannel piece performed at the Maison de la Radio in 2021, extending his research between performance and immersive listening. In 2022 Aho Ssan released Limen with Kenyan musician KMRU, a project conceived for Berlin Atonal where atmospheric pads meet more mineral, dissonant structures. In 2023 Aho Ssan issued Rhizomes on Other People, a collaborative album featuring, among others, Nicolas Jaar, Valentina Magaletti, Lafawndah, Moor Mother and 9T Antiope. In 2025 Aho Ssan continues this exchange between electronics and contemporary composition with Ego Death, made with Polish cellist Resina.
