Speedway

A hardcore project from Stockholm, Speedway brings together several musicians from the Swedish punk and hardcore scene around a fast, melodic, and straight-ahead sound. Formed in the late 2010s, the band made a name for itself on the European hardcore circuit with a self-titled debut EP in 2020, then solidified its identity with the 2022 album Paradise, where Speedway leaned into longer, more contrasting compositions. Their palette blends 1990s hardcore influences, catchy melodies, and more emotional passages, with taut vocals, clear yet overdriven guitars, and a preference for brisk accelerations over technical experimentation. Speedway is part of a generation of bands rekindling a melodic, intense strain of hardcore, prioritizing collective energy and closeness with the audience, whether in small venues or on specialized festival bills. As they tour and release new music, Speedway stays rooted in a tight-knit, band-first approach, favoring a simple, effective aesthetic centered on the live stage.
