Amma
Within the British pop scene, singer and songwriter amma belongs to a family lineage of women musicians, alongside her sisters RAYE and Absolutely, with whom she has been harmonizing since childhood. Long reluctant to view music as a profession despite an environment where it was ever-present, amma first wrote a song for herself with no intention of releasing it, until the track began circulating in the industry and led her to professional writing sessions and label meetings. Her career initially took shape through behind-the-scenes work and studio collaborations, then gradually shifted toward a solo project focused on intimate pop, carried by her voice and by writing steeped in emotional experience. Often composed between group sessions and quiet nights at home, her songs explore fear, doubt, pride, attachment, and hope, drawing on personal stories conceived as points of contact with other lived experiences. With tracks like "What Am I Doing It For," which the artist herself uses as a compass in moments of uncertainty, amma asserts a vision of pop in which storytelling and the sharing of feelings are central, aiming to make each song a space where the listener can recognize themselves.
