Medjy
Between Canada, where he was born, and Port-au-Prince, where he grew up, Medjy builds a career marked by a continual movement between Caribbean heritage and contemporary urban influences. A singer, songwriter and producer, Medjy crafts music that blends Haitian rhythms — notably konpa and rara — with R&B and afro-pop textures. He released his first solo album, Alèz, in 2012, before co-founding the konpa group Enposib, for which he largely handled production and composition on the albums Chay (2016) and Kamasootra (2020). That collective experience placed Medjy at the heart of a transforming Haitian scene, from Port-au-Prince clubs to diaspora events and international festivals. Returning to a more personal project, Medjy released his second solo album, 48 Rebecca, in 2023, continuing his exploration of fusing Caribbean rhythms with contemporary groove. His lyrics frequently address love, identity, forced exile and resilience, giving his music an introspective quality that accompanies both his studio work and performances across North America, Central America and Europe.
