Brodequin

Formed in Knoxville, Tennessee, Brodequin has since the late 1990s evolved into a dense, fast and upfront Brutal Death Metal band, marked by tight rhythms, guttural vocals and themes inspired by the history of torture and punishment. The band was formed in 1998 by brothers Jamie and Mike Bailey, releasing a demo in 1999, and then following up with three albums that establish its sonic identity: Instruments of Torture in 2000, Festival of Death in 2001 and Methods of Execution in 2004. In the same period, Brodequin also released the EP Prelude to Execution in 2003 and participated in several short formats within the extreme death metal scene. After a breakup in 2008, Brodequin resumed activity in 2015 and returned to the stage, notably with an appearance at Maryland Deathfest in 2017. The discographic return became clearer with the EP Perpetuation of Suffering in 2021, before the publication of Harbinger of Woe in 2024, the band's first album in twenty years. Throughout this irregular trajectory, Brodequin has maintained a no-nonsense approach to the most brutal death metal, built around a very compact execution and a deliberately abrasive aesthetic.
